Cincinnati, OH, January 30, 2014 - For the fourth consecutive year, Cincinnati-based telecommunications provider PowerNet Global has received the Medical Mutual Pillar Award for Community Service, presented by Smart Business Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky.
"The award is a testament to the character of our organization and our people," says Allison Stevens, CEO at PowerNet Global. "Being named a recipient, four years running, shows the commitment we have to our mission of giving back to the community and providing help to those who need it."
Meant to encourage charity, recognize creative difference-makers and highlight ties between for-profit and nonprofit organizations, the Pillar Award honors businesses of all types and sizes that make an outstanding contribution to their community. PowerNet Global was one of nine organizations to receive the award this year.
From an individual level, PowerNet Global offers employees eight hours of charitable paid time off per year, giving them the opportunity to donate their time to a charity of their choice. The organization as a whole provides donations, time and other support to a variety of local and national charities, including Crayons to Computers, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Fairfield Food Pantry, Matthew 25: Ministries and many more.
As Medical Mutual chairman, president and CEO Rich Chiricosta told Smart Business Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky, "[Medical Mutual] felt the need to honor companies and their employees who have gone above and beyond the call. While support and direction come from management, companies are only as great as their employees."
It's a sentiment Stevens echoes.
"We have roughly 100 employees," she says. "If we can give those 100 people a means to contribute to the community, they can have a very powerful impact. We're thankful to Medical Mutual and Smart Business for not just recognizing PowerNet Global, but the people that make it such a special company."
