When the section is done, the student just needs to wind the minute hand 180 degrees back up to the 35-minute mark and begin again.

iTexico Donated Funds Raised During Movember to a Charity in Mexico

After a successful charity fundraiser within the Mexican mobile development community, iTexico has donated all funds to local charities to help young people overcome their illness.
Austin, Texas, December 31, 2013 - iTexico, an Austin based nearshore web and mobile app development company, has announced that they recently donated all funds raised in November to a local charity center in Guadalajara, Mexico. iTexico is supported by Dawcons, a software development company located in Guadalajara, Mexico. During November 2013, both tech companies joined forces to reach the mobile app developer ecosystem in the US and Mexico to raise funds for charity and create awareness for health care issues.

During the month of November, iTexico joined the Movember campaign with a little twist to make it its own. Because of the lack of official presence of Movember in Mexico, the team at iTexico decided to make their own campaign. "We were looking to maintain the Movember ideology present at all time while applying some of our own personality and reaching out to the mobile developer community to ignite a passionate response to help people. We knew that developers are kind at heart and we just needed to find the right way to ask for their help in making people's lives better. The response was marvellous and we are very proud of our community," said Anurag Kumar, CEO of iTexico.

The dynamic that took place on iTexico's Facebook page, consisted of asking for volunteers, members of iTexico and Dawcons, to clean shave their beards and grow a new moustache. The before and after pictures of the volunteers were uploaded to the company's Facebook page communicating that for every like on the members photos, the company would donate around a dollar in Mexican currency ($10 Mexican pesos) to a local charity.

After a full month of activity on iTexico's social networks, the results were in and the general response for the Movember campaign was very satisfactory with a very active response from the mobile development community. At the end of the month, the amounts of likes gathered from web and mobile app developers surpassed was just shy of 2700.

"The support of the people was amazing. We received a lot of likes in the first couple of pictures and also the links that we sent about important facts for men's health had a good response. It's incredible how people join forces for a greater cause and how much awareness we can help to create through fun dynamics like these," said Guillermo Ortega, COO of iTexico.

"Our Movember campaign primarily aimed to support local charities in Guadalajara, Mexico, where the company's nearshore delivery center is located and where it hosts more than 70 professionals in the areas of web and mobile UX/UI design, architecture, native and cross-platform development, testing and QA. Supporting a local charity was a core part of the campaign and the team worked hard to make this happen. Movember is about men's health and mental care, but we wanted it to make it work on a local level and directly impact and improve people's lives. So between the companies we looked up for a cause we could help with and found a great charity center," said David Sandoval, Marketing Manager at iTexico.

iTexico and Dawcons helped a local charity center in Guadalajara called the Fray Antonio Alcalde Shelter and donated more than two thousand dollars which will go directly to the people in need.

José Trinidad, 42, needed help with medicines for his larynx tumor; Jesús Gudiño, 45 needed help for a treatment for his prostate cancer. Yolanda Pérez, who is only 19, was diagnosed with leukemia and needed to take very expensive shots every day. iTexico has already received letters of gratitude from the people they've helped through this initiative.

iTexico's vast majority of young developers are men and that's why the company was interested in participating in Movember.

Atlanta, GA, December 30, 2013 - T-Mobile USA will unveil their next marketing strategy, code named Houdini, at this year's Consumer Electronics Show in early January 2014 in Las Vegas, says the Investors Business Daily Dec 27.

Technology analyst Jeff Kagan offers comment.

"T-Mobile’s next act may focus on termination fees charged by competitors. They may pay the termination fees customers are charged to leave their carrier early in order to increase their own market share. Will this have a real impact on the marketplace? That has yet to be proven, but this is a new threat from a small competitor which competitors will watch," says Tech analyst Jeff Kagan.

"T-Mobile seems like a company who has been in a coma during the last few years, but who suddenly woke up and is now full of energy. They want to change not only themselves and their position in the industry, but the entire industry itself," says principal analyst Kagan.

"Whether they will be successful or not, they sure seem to be changing T-Mobile’s position in the highly competitive industry," says wireless analyst Kagan.

T-Mobile is not the only carrier who is changing. Sprint with Softbank is another. These are two carriers who seem to be on a stronger footing and seem to have a similar goal. They both want to improve themselves and change the industry.

"Will T-Mobile be successful at changing the wireless industry with this activity? The industry itself is always changing and has been regularly for decades. Even without T-Mobile in the mix, the wireless industry would be changing. However the threat of a more competitive T-Mobile and Sprint for that matter will tend to keep the big guys on their marketing toes," says Kagan. "And that’s always a good thing."

"If T-Mobile continues to grow, will churn increase with larger carriers? Churn is always ticking up and down, year after year. I don’t expect that to change. However let’s keep an eye on all the competitors. It will be interesting to see who T-Mobile wins customers from and why. 2014 may turn out to be a very interesting year," says Kagan.

GCL states One in four Smartphone Owners Dont Use a Case to Protect Their Phone According to NPD

Nearly 70 Percent of Non-case Smartphone Users Are Android Owners
Port Washington, NY, December 25, 2013 - While a large portion of smartphone owners do use a case to protect their smartphone, one-in-four go case-less, according to The NPD Group's recent Smartphone Case Segmentation Study. Among this group, almost 70 percent own an Android phone while just 20 percent are using an iPhone. One-in-three Android owners said they don't use a case because they weren't worried about dropping their phone. A third of iPhone owners who do not use a case say a case would add too much bulk to the design of their phone.

Still 75 percent of smartphone owners have a case on their phone. According to NPD's Retail Tracking Service, over the past 12 months, unit sales of mobile phone cases have grown 17 percent and according to NPD's Mobile Phone Track Service, smartphone device sales have increased 24 percent.

According to the study, iPhone and Android owners show different propensities for protecting their devices. For instance, nearly 9-in-10 iPhone owners (87 percent) use a protective case with their phone- higher than the average for all smartphone users. Meanwhile, just two-in-three (66 percent) Android phone owners use a protective case.

"Case usage among iPhone owners is higher than any other phone type," said Ben Arnold, executive director, industry analyst at NPD. "While the large selection of cases made for iPhones on the market today is likely driving much of this attachment, there are also differences in the protection motivations of owners. For instance, 27 percent of iPhone owners classify themselves as 'quality protectors,' those who seek the absolute maximum level of protection from a smartphone case, while just 13 percent of Android owners classify themselves as such."

iPhone owners are also more likely to own multiple cases during the lifespan of their phone. Nearly half (49 percent) of iPhone owners have attached more than one case to their device during its lifespan, and a quarter own more than one as way to change the look of their phone.

"The mobile phone protection market now includes a variety of brands, features, and price points that appeal to nearly any type of smartphone owner," said Arnold. "However, there is still good portion of the consumer market not using them and in an effort to appeal to that segments we could begin to see a focus in the market on ultra slim case form factors and materials that both protect and maintain the phone's design integrity."

Methodology

A US representative sample of more than 3,200 consumers (13+) were surveyed from NPD's online panel for the September report.

Fashionista: Considers the style/fashion of cases to be of paramount importance.
Cute and Cheap: Similar to Fashionistas, but considerably more sensitive to cost.
Basic Protector: Tends to be the least selective and doesn't put much thought into the case selection process.
Savvy Enthusiast: Overly enthusiastic about cases and technology, in general.
