Los Angeles, CA, January 30, 2014 - To kick off 2014, FIDM/Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising collaborated with global fashion ecommerce brand JustFab to launch a series of ten videos on the FIDM Blog featuring important life lessons from supermodel, businesswoman, and TV personality Kimora Lee Simmons.
FIDM Students were treated to a campus visit from Kimora last year when she visited FIDM's Los Angeles campus for a screening of the premiere of Kimora: House of Fab. Immediately following the screening, she led an intimate Q&A session with the students.
Encouraging the students to ask questions, the influential businesswoman spoke honestly and directly about her life, career, and the world of fashion, and the Kimora Life Lessons video series was born.
Accompanying the video series on the FIDM Blog is a free set of inspiring downloadable desktop and iPhone wallpapers featuring Kimora's important career advice on subjects including dreaming big, embracing diversity, and being yourself.
The St. Louis-native began her career as a fashion model at age 13, when she was discovered by industry scouts at a Midwest model search. She went to Paris and earned an exclusive contract with Chanel. She's been on the covers and pages of Vogue, Elle, and Harper's Bazaar, and modeled for some of the world's most influential designers such as Christian Dior, Roberto Cavalli and Yves Saint Laurent.
In 1999, Kimora launched the fashion brand Baby Phat with then-husband Russell Lee Simmons. As the face of the brand and the visionary behind it, Kimora grew the company into a premier collection for women. In 2012 Kimora parted ways with Baby Phat to focus on new fashion and beauty endeavors. She is now the President and Creative Director of JustFab.
With four dynamic California campuses, FIDM/Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising is the premier west coast fashion design college, educating for careers in fashion, graphic design, interior design, and entertainment. FIDM's graduates include renowned fashion designers like Monique Lhuillier, Emmy® and Academy Award® award-winning costume designers, top fashion industry executives, and entrepreneurs.
