"Since going on sale to our Members in early November, the response to the Shaw 2014 playbill has been very positive and we're trending ahead of last year's very successful season," remarked Executive Director Elaine Calder. "I encourage you to purchase tickets early to avoid disappointment."
"I'm so pleased by this early reaction to a playbill that speaks to the open heart and the inquisitive mind," commented Artistic Director Jackie Maxwell.
As always, those purchasing tickets are also keen to engage with The Shaw Festival through ancillary events featured in The Shaw's popular Beyond the Stage programming. This year's Speakers Series returns with a special weekend event entitled Commemorating the Outbreak of World War I.
"This apocalyptic war and its aftermath sits right at the centre of our original mandate and affects and connects much of the work that appears on our stages," remarked Artistic Director Jackie Maxwell. "I am thrilled to welcome writer, actor and director Paul Gross and acclaimed historian Margaret MacMillan to share their provocative and thoughtful points of view about this world changing event."
