London - UK, February 10, 2014 - CSP Today has published a complimentary report in which it outlines how tower technology is set to take the lead in Chile.
A couple of weeks ago Abengoa won the first international CSP bid in Chile with the 110MW Cerro Dominador Project. The technology proposed for the plant is solar tower, which internationally is becoming the preferred option for large scale projects. According to the CSP Today Quarterly Update (November 2013), there are 2,507MW with tower under planning internationally, compared to 2,011 MW of parabolic trough.
CSP Today has published a complimentary report entitled "CSP Towers and Chile - Part 1: Market Evolution" which aims to provide clarification on a CSP technology that is growing in Chile. The first part of the report looks into how the tower technology is taking over other technologies in the world and in Chile.
This first section of the report also includes a detailed profile of all the seven tower plants that are being developed in the world, including the Crescent Dunes project of SolarReserve and the Ivanpah project of BrightSource Energy in the United States.
The Cerro Dominar project is also analysed in detailed, including technical facts such as the number of mirrors that will be used and hectares covered. At the same time, the project is put into context with Abengoas vast experience in tower technology.
Finally, the report provides a comprehensive timeline of the evolution of CSP tower technology from the lab to commercial operation.
