Los Angeles, CA, February 10, 2014 - Students from FIDM/Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising's Merchandise Product Development Program recently visited the new corporate offices of Ella Moss and Splendid in downtown Los Angeles on a private tour led by Corporate Recruiter Regina Romero and Human Resources Manager Alice Ortiz. Both contemporary labels were founded by FIDM Alumna Pamella Protzel, who is currently the Creative Director.
The students were introduced to Tara Peyrache, the Vice President of Marketing, Bobby Partoon, Import Technical Design Supervisor, and Linda Lee, Splendid Senior Designer. Each person they met gave an overview of their job in the company and fielded questions by the students. Both Ella Moss and Splendid produce collections twelve times a year, which means that a full new delivery of product is created each and every month.
Kurt Kleepsies, VP of Retail Operations for VF Contemporary Brands (who oversees Ella Moss, Splendid, and 7 For All Mankind) recently spoke as a guest lecturer at FIDM's Applied Trend Forecasting class on the downtown LA campus. Speaking to Merchandise Marketing Students, he broke down the four positions a brand can take in relation to trends-Create It, Lead It, Be on It, or Follow It. Though it might be more fun to create and lead the fashion crowd, he advised students that the money is made by either following or being exactly "on trend." He encouraged students to "Follow your heart; Be authentic; Be agile."
FIDM/Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising is a co-educational, specialized, private college dedicated to educating students for the Fashion, Graphics, Interior Design, and Entertainment industries.
