Community Choice Credit Union Launched e-Deposit

Credit Union, based in Michigan, adds convenience to membership through e-Deposit which allows checks to be deposited from mobile devices, tablets or desktops.
Farmington Hills, Michigan, February 03, 2014 - Community Choice Credit Union announced today that it now offers e-Deposit. e-Deposit, also known as remote deposit capture, allows users to take pictures of checks or scan checks and deposit those checks from mobile devices, tablets or home computers. The Credit Union, which serves Southeast Michigan, hopes the new service will add convenience and value for its members.

"e-Deposit is a great addition for Community Choice because it allows members to easily deposit checks without having to leave their homes or their businesses," said Community Choice Product Manager, Audrey Olzem. "When you have freezing weather like we've all experienced in Michigan this year, it's wonderful to know you can do the majority of your banking from a warm and convenient place."

Remote deposit capture joins a list of other convenience-based electronic services that the Credit Union offers to its membership such as: mobile banking, online banking, electronic bill payment and electronic notifications. A 2013 report by Pew Research Center indicates 56 percent of American adults own a smartphone. The high rate of smartphone usage has required forward-thinking credit unions to adopt advanced mobile technology.

The Credit Union believes the additional service, coupled with its innovative member rewards program, adds to a growing list of reasons to switch from other financial institutions to Community Choice. The National Credit Union Administration reports that "Membership in federally insured credit unions continued to grow strongly (in 2013), reaching 95.9 million, a new record…(while) total loans in the industry rose 2.9 percent to $631.5 billion in the third quarter of 2013."
