GCL publishes An Android App for Secure Remote Support

Enterprise remote access solution provider, Netop, introduces app for remotely supporting mobile devices running Android.
Portland, OR, December 19, 2013 - Netop, a pioneer in secure remote access solutions with nearly 30 years of expertise working in large complex environments, today announced the release of Netop Remote Control Mobile for Android. Available on Netop's website, the app allows IT service desk representatives to remotely support Samsung smartphones and tablets running Android version 4.0 or later. A limited feature set is also available for other Android devices running version 2.2 or later.

With the app installed on an Android smartphone or tablet, end users can receive device support in a manner similar to how they would for their laptop or desktop computer. From their existing Netop support console, IT service desk representatives can connect to Android devices wherever they are located.

Once a connection is established, device skins frame the screen so technical support representatives can interact with the interface as if they were holding the device in their hands. In addition to real-time screen transfer and device control, Netop Remote Control Mobile for Android allows for file transfers, chatting, inventory checks and many more capabilities.

The new app from Netop comes at a time when workforce mobility is approaching ubiquity and where the growth of Android devices is exploding. According to market research firm IDC, Android accounted for more than 80% of all smartphone shipments last quarter. With more than a million devices activated on a daily basis, the Android operating system is also being used in netbooks, barcode scanners, smart TVs and other consumer electronics.

"The capabilities of Netop Remote Control Mobile for Android are a natural extension to our core offerings," said Kurt Bager, CEO, Netop. "Not only does the app enable companies to support mobile devices running Android, but in centralizing smartphone and tablet device support into Netop's existing support tools, it also allows companies to consolidate technical and human resources while gaining operational efficiencies and mitigating security risks."

Netop Remote Control Mobile for Android has been signed and approved for Samsung devices running version 4.0 or later. The app can be used to transfer files, check inventory and chat on other Android devices running version 2.2 or later. Current and prospective customers should contact Netop about purchasing the app as part of the Netop Remote Control solution.
