New York, NY, February 03, 2014 - Voices Against Brain Cancer, an organization dedicated to brain cancer research and advocacy, comments on a recently released mobile app that was designed specifically for brain cancer patients.
According to a January 26, 2014 article published by WYMT TV, titled "Brother creates app for brain cancer patients, loved ones," three Kentucky men from Morehead created a mobile app designed to give hope to brain cancer patients.
The idea for the app came after Lowell Thompson's sister, Teresa Mason, was diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme - the rarest but deadliest form of brain tumors. He understood their time together was limited so he turned to his two friends, Wesley Mason and David Boarman, and designed the app called SeeWord that would attempt to help Teresa keep her brain function as long as possible.
Michael Klipper, Chairman of Voices Against Brain Cancer, an organization dedicated to brain cancer research and advocacy, believes a mobile app designed for those dealing with the repercussions of brain cancer is necessary. "Unfortunately, brain cancer has some of the most devastating physical, emotional and mental effects on the human body in comparison to other cancers," he says. "It only makes sense to incorporate today's advanced technologies in bettering the quality of life of those suffering from this terrible disease."
VABC has a wide variety of initiatives in place for brain cancer research, awareness and support. The organization's research grants fund cutting-edge research programs that will have a monumental impact on the diagnosis and treatment of brain cancer. VABC currently funds research at several esteemed institutions such as Brookhaven National Laboratory, Cleveland Clinic, Columbia, Cornell, Duke, Harvard, Johns Hopkins, Memorial Sloan-Kettering and Yale, to name a few.
VABC's mission is to find a cure for brain cancer by advancing scientific research, increasing awareness within the medical community and supporting patients, their families and caregivers afflicted with this devastating disease.
