GCL states She's Pink, She's Sassy and She's Got Messy Whiskers: It's Babymouse and She's Now an App

Everyone's favorite heart-loving, messy-whiskered rodent is, in true Babymouse fashion, breaking new ground. In 2014, Secret Builders have brought Babymouse to the App Store and Google Play.
San Francisco, California, February 03, 2014 - Perfectly in time for Valentine's Day, everyone's favorite heart-loving, messy-whiskered rodent is, in true Babymouse fashion, breaking new ground. She dreams BIG and so, not satisfied with over 1.8 million award-winning graphic novels in print, being a plush doll, an ebook and even a musical, in 2014 Babymouse is an app. (Well, two apps actually, with more to come).

In Babymouse - Pop The Pic Word Puzzle Game, players pop squares to gradually reveal a picture from one of the Babymouse graphic novels. Based on what they see, the child then fills in a missing word from the sentence provided. While having fun, children are increasing their vocabulary, reinforcing spelling and comprehension skills and working on potentially tricky stuff like making inferences. Shannon Rosa, writer and iPad advocate called Babymouse - Pop the Pic Word Puzzle Game, "seriously fun...a kick even for those who have somehow never crossed over into the wonderful world of Babymouse."

In the second app, Babymouse: Our Hero - Spot The Difference Game, children (and adults!) compare two versions of scenes from the Babymouse: Our Hero graphic novel, and tap on the screen where they see discrepancies. Great for enhancing visual processing and attention to detail, players of all ages can give their brains a workout as the game has tons of levels as well as beginner, expert and genius skill settings.

"Babymouse is a sassy character with a big imagination," says Jennifer Holm, Babymouse's co-creator and a New York Times-bestselling and Newbery Honor-winning writer. "In creating the comics, my brother Matthew and I deliberately tried to engage emerging and reluctant readers. Given the prevalence of tablets in kids' lives now, apps seemed a logical way of trying to reach as many children as possible - to give them a fun experience that hopefully also encourages them to read. We're hoping that this gives parents and educators another option for improving children's skills and literacy."

App Availability and Pricing: Both apps are available on the App Store and Google Play.
