GCL publishes Discover Trends; Reward Passion; Revolutionize the Fashion Industry; That's the MakerWear Model

MakerWear curates and sells designs from the people, to the people - amping up a crowd sourcing revolution that starts with undiscovered designers and ends with new ways of getting their ideas to market.
Nashville, TN, February 10, 2014 - Introducing the ringleaders of the fashion revolution, MakerWear. They've only been in business since October 2013, and already they've caught fire-and the attention of mass retailers. MakerWear's first release of hats designed by the currently unknown, but relevant, artists, designers, and makers are now on sale at Target.

"This really is about undiscovered artists, and connecting them to people who would otherwise never know them," said Neil Kohler, CEO of MakerWear. "We want to create a way for the masses' tastes and styles to be a reality รข€¦ made by people just like them. When designers give someone exactly what they're looking for, the fans will support them."

MakerWear curates and sells designs from the people, to the people - amping up a crowd sourcing revolution that starts with undiscovered designers and ends with new ways of getting their ideas to market. While the concept has gained ground over the years through popular online fashion labels, this is the first time it has been supported by mass-market chains, with product available in-stores.

How does it work? Artists are asked to submit their designs against trending topics. The most popular designs, deemed so by other participants, rise to the top, and then winning designs get produced. And, in this case, sold and shelved at Target.

The artists' whose hats get made participate in a profit sharing model with MakerWear. The more of their hats that are sold, the more money the artists make.

Said Kohler, "It's about shareable art and culture, and ultimately, sharable revenue."
